UAV Survey
UAV surveying uses drone technology to revolutionise the possibilities of site surveys, and is increasingly becoming the preferred option in most surveying scenarios. The team at Recon have the latest technology and the expertise to ensure that your UAV survey project is planned and carried out to give you the best and most useful data.
Unmanned drone flights allow access to difficult to reach or hazardous areas, and photographs to be taken from lower heights and angles. Recon’s drones use a combination of photography and LiDAR survey to collect the survey data needed for different sites and projects. Beyond 2D mapping, 3D topographical and volumetric data are captured, replacing expensive and time-consuming manual surveys with a more accurate and data-rich picture.
Once Recon’s specialists have analysed the data from a survey, it can be sliced into a range of models depending on the site and the needs of a particular project. For mines and quarries, a 3D pointcloud can be used to accurately calculate stockpile volumes. In the forestry sector, high resolution RGB orthophotography can be used to develop more accurate harvest planning. Land development and transport projects greatly benefit from UAV surveys at various stages, from initial terrain assessments at the planning stage to surveys during construction to gain a more accurate picture of progress. For other projects covering a wide land area, digital terrain and surface models allow for complete 3D surveys of vegetation and buildings as well as underlying ground contours.
Why Recon?
Our early adoption of UAV technology and the variety of UAV projects we have completed are testament to our unparalleled expertise at UAV survey. With their breadth of experience across a range of industries, Recon’s staff are able to advise on survey types depending on the nature of your project and the data you require. Once surveys have been completed, Recon’s models can be customised in consultation with you and are compatible with all major design programs.
